Sooooo, there’s been this trend around town for a while now where one-year-old babies get to do some pretty fun things for their birthday photos. Fun things like being super cute, getting photos to commemorate a birthday, and smashing a cake. After photographing quite a few session like this myself, I decided this year for my own birthday I would too do all of these fun birthday things. Because, honestly, why is it that only one-year-olds are the ones having all the fun and smashing cake?!

The ‘Thank You’s’

My sweet friend, Alexis, smirked when I told her my idea for our yearly photo trade, but graciously went along with my craziness. I am so thankful she took the time to take these photos for me, and that she even took a moment to take Ranger and I’s first professional portraits together!

Erin from Silver Spoon Bake Shop created a STUNNING cake for me to smash and play with, and I honestly cannot sing her praises enough. If you’re in need of a sweet treat at your engagement party or wedding day or LITERALLY ANYTHING, Erin and the team at Silver Spoon should be your only choice. Not only was the cake Erin crafted for my little shoot SO me, it was also incredibly delicious. It was SO good! I’m having another piece today, ha!

My friend Kayla owns the boutique bridal hair and makeup service, Pretty and Pinned, and she took a moment to curl my long mermaid locks!  Kayla colored my hair the week before to ensure I looked my best for these photos. I’m so thankful for her willingness to help me look more put together than I actually AM in real life, HA!

Adult Cake Smash

And now that the ‘thank yous’ are out of the way, I’ll get to the good stuff, the photos. All of these were taken by Alexis Schwallier Photography and edited my myself! Thank you to everyone who has wished me a happy 25th birthday already today. 25th Birthday

I’m walking out of adolescence completely and into adulthood with a hopeful and confident outlook. I’m ready for the next 25 years of this silly thing called life, the ups and downs and everything in between!
