Brent and Cass are a special type of couple; they are one of those pairings of humans who you see together and just KNOW they are meant to be. That’s them. We met one afternoon right before Christmas at the South Carolina State House for their engagement session. We had the best time exploring the grounds, getting to know each other better, and taking some gorgeous portraits together. I’m so excited to share my favorite frames from their Columbia South Carolina engagement session.

The Couple

Not only are these two so cute together and super classy when they dress it up, but they are also madly in love! It was so easy for me to see how much they love, admired, and respected each other as we walked around the grounds of the South Carolina State House. It was very clear to me and easy to see that these two are already life partners. It’s them against the world; just as it should be.

The Session

The session started out with a casual outfit to warm Brent and Cass up to the camera. After that, we moved on to something a bit more themed. Brent is a former Clemson football player, so we just had to take the time to get some photos honoring his place on the team. They brought these adorable little matching shirts for a few photos that have the date of the year they are getting married and the name they will share on the back. After we finished up with their casual outfits, Brent and Cass slipped into something a little bit more dressy, and we wrapped up their session as the sun set with them just loving on each other.

The Proposal Story

I loved being able to document the little looks between these two and learning about their engagement story. When Cass first told me about the way Brent proposed I was ecstatic to hear something as romantic as the story she told me! She told me about how Brent invited her to travel to Paris with him, how they spent a few days in the city as girlfriend and boyfriend, and how he surprised her one morning with the question of a lifetime. Doesn’t that sound dreamy and oh-so-romantic?! Brent and Cass left the country as a couple dating and returned ready to promise each other their forever.

The Promise of Forever

I am so honored to be this lovely couple’s choice for their wedding photographer. And I’m quite literally obsessed with all of their engagement portraits! I seriously cannot get over how genuinely happy Brent and Cass are together and how well it reads on camera. Just thinking about the idea of photographing Cass in her gown for the first time and watching them promise their lives to each other later this year gets me so excited!  I hope you enjoy just a few of my favorite portraits of them together from their Columbia South Carolina engagement session!
