From the moment I met Heather, I knew we were the perfect fit as bride and photographer. We sat in a little coffee shop in Columbia, and she told me all about her dreams and plans for her fairytale backyard wedding. Through the entire wedding process, I came away from every interaction with Heather knowing without a doubt this wedding was going to be everything she dreamed of and more.
And, sheesh, it certainly WAS the fairytale wedding she dreamed of!! Every little detail was poured over with love, each decoration and moment thought through. From the ‘Wizard of OZ’ quotes placed throughout her parents’ backyard to the handmade details, each little thing FIT Heather and Matthew perfectly. Her flower girls threw feathers instead of petals, and the couple’s friends and family showered them with paper airplanes as they walked down the isle as Mr. & Mrs. for the first time. They said their vows in front of a sea of candles and a handmade (by Heather’s father and PawPaw!) arbor made from stain glass windows, and the party after their vows?? One for the books!!
There were chandeliers hanging in the reception tent and a handmade, custom dance floor to host the party. Matthew, a drone and firework enthusiast, put on a gorgeous fireworks show to end the night. All-in-all Heather and Matthew’s day was just plain flawless. Every little handmade detail complimented their backyard wedding and love perfectly, and this day is going to go down as one of my favorite wedding days yet.
I hope you enjoy my favorite frames from Heather and Matthew’s fairytale backyard wedding!

Yes, you heard me correctly, Heather’s dad and Pawpaw BUILT her custom ceremony entrance so she could have that ‘reveal’ moment for Matt as any bride would in a traditional church ceremony, but with a backyard wedding twist!
I absolutely LOVED Heather’s maroon pumps!
Heather gifted her bridesmaids a pair of earrings, a handwritten note, and a forest green shaw to warm them up on this pretty November day.
Matthew wore a velvet maroon suite jacket, and I loved his little fancy pocket square.
What a gorgeous couple… sheeeesh!!
And, oh, did I forget to mention that these two could be models? Because it’s true… Check out Matthew WORKIN’ it in this next frame…
Now, on to the PARTY!!
The couple even had a special number they prepared for their first dance, and it was SO sweet and fun!
Ah, I love a good semi-naked cake…
Heather danced with her daddy and grandfather that night, and both of these dances were SO sweet.
And they ended the night with a fireworks show!
Heather and Matthew,
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for letting me be a part of your stunning day! Photographing your love was such a joy for me, and I’m so in awe of how truly unique your wedding day was. Congratulations, you two. You’re truly meant for each other, and I hope for a joyous love like yours in my own life one day.
I can never say thank you enough, and I wish you both years and year of happiness. Congrats, Mr. and Mrs. Tickel!!!
