Not every single wedding day that I photograph occurs in the most beautiful weather, and as a South Carolina wedding photographer, I have to be ready for pop-up thunderstorms and rainy wedding days sometimes. Zoe and Brady’s Tybee Island wedding day was one of those think-on-my-feet-because-a-thunderstorm-could-pop-up-at-any-moment kind of days. Despite the rain and the weather presenting a few challenges for us, Zoe and Brady had a beautiful wedding day on Tybee Island in Georgia and held their reception at Vic’s on the River in Savannah, Georgia. I am excited to share with you a few of their Tybee Island wedding photos!

Preparation & Details

Zoe and Brady chose not to see each other before the ceremony and prepared for their wedding day separately with their respective wedding party members. I photographed the couple’s details and invitation suite while Zoe got the final touches put on her wedding day look. Zoe and Brady‘s two sons were with Zoe as she got her hair and makeup done, and her mom helped her get into her wedding gown.

Reading Letters Back to Back

The couple chose not to see each other before the ceremony, but they did decide to have a back-to-back letter and gift exchange! It was such a sweet, emotional moment for the couple as they both cried while reading their letters to each other and proudly showed off their new gifts.

Wedding Party Portraits

I photographed the couple with their wedding party separately before we headed over to a sweet location on Tybee Island Beach for their ceremony and Tybee Island wedding ceremony.

The ceremony is when things started to get interesting with the weather! After looking at a few weather apps, we quickly realized that an oncoming pop-up thunderstorm was headed straight our way! Zoe and Brady moved forward with their ceremony while the wind whipped around them and as their closest friends and families stood to witness their vows. I kid you not when I say that right after the first kiss between the couple, the bottom of the rain storm we were trying to avoid dropped out on top everyone! My second shooter, Alexis, ran to give a couple pair of umbrellas (see photo of them holding said emergency umbrellas below) to keep them dry and we all headed to Vic’s on the River in Savannah, Georgia for portraits of the couple and their reception festivities.

Once we arrived in Savannah, Zoe and Brady were able to slip out when the rain calmed down for a few beautiful portraits of them together. I absolutely love so many of these photos of them together, and I’m so proud of these two for being such troopers as we popped in and out to avoid the rain during their portraits.

After all of their photos were finished, the reception began! Zoe and Brady shared an incredibly sweet first dance, cut their wedding cake, and celebrated the night with a few of their closest friends and family members at Vic’s on the River.
