Today I am so excited to share with you Abby and Alex’s Columbia SC couple’s session! Abbi, Alex, and I met up a few months ago to take a few photos of them together as a couple for their anniversary. I absolutely love how their session turned out and just had to share a few photos with you.

Not Engaged, but still Photographed Together

Abby and Alex are still in the dating phase of their relationship but wanted to have photos taken together to commemorate this time in their lives together. I know often we think of professional photos as being restricted to certain specific times in our lives. But that’s simply not true, my friends. You don’t have to be engaged or planning to get married to have beautiful portraits taken of you and the person that you love! You don’t have to be graduating from college or high school to document how you look right now. You don’t have to be welcoming a new baby into the family or even at a family reunion to live and exist in photos and memories.

Less Poses, More Real Moments

Since Abby and Alex were not using these photos for a save the date announcement or formal engagement portraits, I was able to have a little bit more fun with them than I normally would during an engagement session. We focused less on the picture-perfect portraits of them as a couple and more on their relationship, their love, and how much fun they have together! I absolutely love all of the photos where Abby and Alex are laughing or interacting with each other from this session. I feel like we truly captured all of the joy that they both exclude when they are around each other in these Columbia SC couple’s photos.

Right Now Is the Best Time for Photos of You

Though I most often work with couples who are planning their wedding days as a South Carolina wedding photographer, I usually jump at the opportunity to photograph a couple who is still in the dating stage of their relationship. I believe that every stage of every relationship is special and unique in its own way. How you feel about each other dating, before the commitment of marriage, is just as much of a valid reason as a wedding is to have beautiful photos taken.
