It’s always so fun to get away from the indoor JHP boudoir studio and step out somewhere that may be out of anyone else’s comfort zone. Back in the Spring of 2019, I got to capture Amanda’s Columbia, South Carolina boudoir photography session outdoors and the Images were so dreamy. Self Love In Amanda’s Words

I have had an up and down relationship with my body, like most women have. My eyes have a tendency to zero in on every single flaw in each photo and every mirror. Some days I will leave the house feeling like I could rule the world, proud of how I look, and other I will feel really depressed because I hate everything I see. I try to stay healthy and keep my body strong by hitting the gym and playing roller derby but life doesn’t always allow me to keep on that schedule and when I fall off that track I can tell.

Not everyone loves tattoos but to me its away to make my body a permanent piece of art, each tattoo makes me love the way I look more because I am looking more at the tattoo than my flaws. I was super excited to do this creative outdoor boudoir session in Columbia, South Carolina with Jessica Hunt Photography to really capture the beauty that I should see in myself.

What Self Love Means To Amanda

Self – love means sleeping in, buying that coffee, and allowing that mental break down. I am almost always over stressed and on verge of a break, but the little things help me have a bright moment in each day, and allowing the emotions out is honestly just refreshing and healthy. These Columbia, South Carolina self love boudoir portraits were done to help me believe my beauty and grow my confidence. On the days I don’t think I look good I look at my favorite shots and go “YES you do look good.”
I felt so empowered and confident taking these photos, I felt disbelief when I saw them, and I felt love when people reacted to them. 

Amanda’s Self Love Journey

I’m pretty pretty far down the journey- at least when it comes to the outer body. I definitely have a while to go on that journey though. I still just see a ton of flaws, the amount of unwanted hair, the uneven eyes, the imperfect stomach, the list in my mind goes on. I’ll always see flaws, but my hope is to one day accept those flaws and stop comparing my flaws to someone else’s Photoshop. I really believe this creative outdoor boudoir session in Columbia, South Carolina can be added to this journey to better accept my body and the power it has.
