Dual Wedding Day In Columbia, South Carolina

I recently got to capture Josh and Angaeli’s dual wedding day in Columbia, South Carolina. Angaeli comes from an Indian background and if you know anything about Indian Hindu weddings.. They traditionally last about three days. This wedding in Columbia, SC was really special because the Hindu temple honored a shortened version of Angaeli and Josh’s Indian ceremony and they were able to have their western wedding the following day. Are you ready to see all the gorgeous wedding day details from their dual wedding in Columbia, South Carolina?

Day 1 of Josh And Angaeli’s Ceremony

On day 1 of Angeili and Josh’s dual wedding day, we immediately started with an intimate first look. Angaeli got ready at her home with her mother and sister while Josh finalized his look at the Hindu Temple & Cultural Center of South Carolina. Josh was looking SHARP in his white Hindu suit. We thought it was unique that the groom was the one in white on this day! Angaeli arrived to the temple in her vivid pink gown and her gold jewelry ready to see her groom! Her henna on her hands was specially created by her sister and even had Josh’s name written in.

In fact, the entire family was looking stunning in their traditional Indian attire. I loved that Josh and Angaeli kept their first ceremony intimate with just their close friends and family!

The Hindu Ceremony

After getting her final touches ready with her mother, it was time for Angaeli to slip off her shoes and meet Josh under the Mandap! the Mandap consists of four pillars that symbolize the four parents who worked hard to raise their children. I thought it was incredibly beautiful and thoughtful. Angaeli was escorted down the aisle by her brother, sister, and cousins before the ceremony officially started. Then there were several steps that they had to take to unite families and be blessed for their marriage. Something that stood out to me is how colorful Indian culture is and how colorful love can be.Indian wedding ceremony photography in Columbia, SCGroom with shoes held for ransom for Indian wedding in Columbia, SCCouple after Indian wedding ceremony in rose necklacesBride with red powder on head after Indian wedding ceremony

Wrapping Up Day 1

The ceremony came to an end after Josh and Angaeli recited 7 vows to each other and took many steps to become husband and wife. They finished the ceremony by receiving blessings from Punditji, their parents, relatives and friends for a happy married life together. A known tradition among Hindu weddings is the groom getting his shoes held for ransom by the bridesmaids. They did just that! Then lunch began and it was time to prepare for day 2 of their dual wedding day in Columbia, SC!

Day 2 of Josh And Angaeli’s Ceremony

As on any wedding day, myself and my team begin the day by capturing all the special details that truly tie the day together. No one can actually tie the knot without these little pieces that show a couple’s personality. Josh and Angeali had beautiful details from their Hindu ceremony and their western ceremony. It was an honor to capture all these items!

The Reception Decor

I really just need to mention how gorgeous this December wedding decor was. Melanie Murphy with By Invitation Only really knows how to set the tone for a fine wedding day. And of course no wedding day is complete without florals. Josh and Angaeli chose to have a very elegant wedding color pallet and chose a classic red rose to bring their day to life. These florals created by Something Special Florist were perfect with Melanie’s planning and designs. The draped lights above the dinner space created a feeling of being under the stars. This is the way a December wedding is done, thanks to all these incredible vendors and Josh and Angaeli’s visions.

Then they shared sweet first dances with their parents before giving a thankful toast to all their guests for dinner. The rest of the night was celebrated with cake cutting, a live painter, an incredible live band, and more dancing with the entirety of their guests.
