Every wedding day, I always start with the most important details that truly bring any South Carolina wedding day together. I captured Holley’s stunning dress and then I set up all of Holley and Austin’s invitation suite created by Minted, rings, shoes, and their other valued wedding details for some stunning flat lays and images at 701 Whaley in Columbia, South Carolina.

Timeless Elegance

Holley and Austin chose to have their decorations formal with southern elegance to almost mock a black tie event. Their planner, Alisha Millwood with Amazing Moment Weddings made sure to meet their timeless elegant visions at 701 Whaley with all black linens and touches of mirrored and black decor. White linens draped the ceilings with a chandelier made by Austin’s mother, while black lanterns with touches of blush, white, and green florals sat on the table tops.

The rest of the venue was left bare as Holley and Austin absolutely loved the rustic feel that 701 Whaley naturally gave off. To complete the decor, the couple hired a live painter, Gabbi Cook with Cloud Studios, to paint their reception space and later add in Austin and Holley’s first dance! The simple elegance of the reception space really caught my eye and made a beautiful setting for Columbia, South Carolina wedding photography.

Getting Ready For A 701 Whaley Wedding

They both got ready separately at 701 Whaley surrounded by their families and wedding party in Columbia, SC. I loved capturing images of Austin getting suited up with his brother and father and then snap some images as Holley wrapped her blue ribbon around her waste as both her mother and Austin’s mother helped her finalize putting her dress on.

The First Look

They chose to move forward with a first look outside of 701 Whaley and as Holly put on her finishing touches, Austin waited downstairs to see his bride for the first time. Holley arrived outside and had Austin turn around to reveal their first look. Austin’s expression was perfect. He scored a perfect 10 out of 10 on groomsmen reactions on Columbia, South Carolina wedding days.

The Perfect Groom Reaction

He absolutely lit up at the first sight of Holley in her beautiful sparkly dress. As they shared laughter and cries, they also shared gifts and read each other intimate letters. As we wrapped up the first look, a special guest made her appearance to get some Columbia, SC wedding photos as well.

Dogs Are The Best Wedding Surprise

Sweet Emma, Holley and Austin’s labradoodle, had to be there for her own first look and some portraits with her parents. She was absolutely adorable with her pink floral collar and excited personality. Emma could feel the love in the air at 701 Whaley in Columbia, SC!

The Stunning Wedding Party

As portraits with Emma wrapped up, all of Austin and Holley’s wedding party stepped outside of 701 Whaley to join Austin and Holley for full wedding party photos in their all black attire. They were stunning. The black dresses and black suits really brought the idea of a black tie event to life and they all truly felt timeless.

Holley got photos with her bridesmaids and Austin with his groomsmen before everyone headed back into 701 Whaley to prepare for the ceremony. The ceremony site was upstairs in the Olympia Room inside 701 Whaley in Columbia, SC.

White sheer linens crossed against the back wall and a beautiful hand made chandelier hung up above the linen alter made by Austin’s mother. Lanterns lined the back of the aisle and Austin awaited his bride at the elegant alter. Holley entered the ceremony with her father and set her eyes on her Groom! They thoughtfully they read their vows and had their families pray over them. To wrap up this gorgeous 701 Whaley wedding ceremony, they sealed their marriage with a kiss.

701 Whaley Wedding Reception

Holley and Austin were so joyful as they entered their reception space down into the Grand Hall of 701 Whaley. The stair railings were wrapped in blush and white rose florals to add a perfect touch of elegance to their reception space. As they entered, their friends and families cheered the lovely newlyweds! They arrived for their first dance and then went forward with the traditional father and mother dances. Holley and her father shared a sweet dance while Austin and his mother surprised everyone with some funky dancing to steal the show. The Grand Hall was the perfect reception setting for 701 Whaley wedding photography!

The Best Portraits Are At Sunset

While everyone ate some delicious Capital City Catering, we all stepped out across the street for some sunset portraits in front of the venue. 701 Whaley in Columbia, SC makes for the best background during sunsets for Columbia, South Carolina wedding photography. After we captured the smiles and details we all ran back across the road to the venue to get ready to cut the cake!

Time To Party

Their cake also held the timeless elegant visions that Holley and Austin had in mind for their 701 Whaley wedding. It was white with pink florals, touches of silver details, and a sparkly B as a cake topper. It sat on a beautifully decorated table next to two glasses of champagne.

After the cake cutting, it was time to party! Sound Quest Dj kept the party going all night long, and the couple had a great time dancing and partying with their friends and family at their 701 Whaley wedding! They sealed their dancing with some kisses to make for the perfect South Carolina 701 Whaley wedding reception images. As the party wrapped up, they ended the night with a sparkler exit surrounded by all their guests and drove away in a fancy baby blue Rolls Royce.
