LGBTQ DC Engagement Photos
Andrew & Tavion in Washington, DC

Andrew and Tavion are a wonderful couple who currently live in the greater Washington DC area and are planning to get married in Greenville, South Carolina later this year. A few months ago, I traveled up to DC to visit with them and photograph their same sex DC engagement photos. I wanted to take a moment to share with you about Andrew and Tavion, their love story, and a few of my favorite frames from their Washington DC engagement session!

We woke up early on a Friday morning to visit the National Mall, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Jefferson Memorial for their LGBTQ DC engagement photos. Though Andrew and Tavion may not live in this area forever and are getting married in South Carolina, it was important to them to commemorate the beginnings of their relationship that they have built together in Washington DC. What better way to enshrine those memories than with their engagement pictures, right?

I have dreamed of shooting amongst the monuments throughout Washington DC for years now, and let me tell you, the experience did NOT disappoint. I absolutely love how all of the marble and architecture of the monuments add to the romantic feel of Andrew and Tavion’s same sex DC engagement photos! I hope you enjoy browsing through a few of my favorite frames from their Washington DC engagement pictures and reading about how Andrew and Tavion met, fell in love, and got engaged.

LGBTQ DC Engagement Photos

We originally knew of each other through other mutual friends, and we went on a date at first. But at that time, neither of us were ready for a relationship. About a month after that date we ran into each other again and decided to try again. The rest is history! We have been together three years and going strong!

Honestly, we were sitting in the bed one day, and we had a conversation about getting married. The next thing I know, we had committed to a date for the wedding. Looking back on this I giggle, because it was not what someone would expect a proposal would be, but it was perfect for us.

I love that we are complete opposites and totally balance each other out. We both are dorky and have have silly personalities, so that means we have a lot of fun. We understand each other, even if we are not on the same page.

We love to spend time with our pups! We have three, so they are a big part of our life. We both work a lot, so having one on one time is so important to us. We try to spend as much time as we can together.

About a year into dating, we were at Walmart getting ready to go in. We both stopped and looked at each other. At the same time, we both said, ‘I love you.’ In that moment, I think we realized this relationship was so much more than we thought.
