Here in Columbia, South Carolina, every Saturday morning local vendors from across the state gather for what’s called Soda City Columbia’s Main Street Market. The market is set on a few blocks of Main Street and hosts hundreds of local Carolinians and their families. If you head to the market on a Saturday morning, you’ll experience a myriad of sights, sounds, smells, and incredible vendors.

If you’re a local, you know that Soda City Market is just, well, the Columbia thing to do on a Saturday morning. And with that in mind, Drew and Kristen decided to theme their engagement portraits around the Main Street market! They love visiting their favorite vendors together and picking out a box of fresh veggies each week. So, we figured, why not incorporate this special Columbia-esque activity into their engagement session?!

They explored the market one early Saturday morning a few months ago while I followed behind just documenting every little moment. You all know I have a thing for those ‘in-between’ moments! Doing these ordinary, every-day things together made for some genuinely sweet images. I’ve fallen in love with sessions like these! I love going beyond just the “stand here and kiss” type of sessions, and this Soda City Columbia, SC engagement is no different!

Drew and Kristen LOVE the bread from Sprout Momma Breads, so we stopped by to purchase all the carbs. Ha! After that, they picked out a box of fresh veggies to take home. We also enjoyed a torta from a local Mexican food truck! After that, we stopped by the Driver 8 Studio booth for Kristen to pick out a necklace to wrap up our time at the Soda City Market. We finished up their session with a few portraits at the USC Horseshoe with Drew and Kristen’s four-legged babies, Bella and Rosie.

Who knew that buying vegetables would be so much fun!?

So, apparently, Drew finds himself having a craving for these one-of-a-kind tortas sold by the Taqueria truck quite often. He insisted we stopped for one during the session, and honestly, these photos were TOTALLY worth it!
