As a Columbia, South Carolina portrait photographer, opening a boudoir photography studio has been one of my greatest joys. In Alicia’s Words

I struggled for a long time accepting my skin for what it was. From 10 years of cancer treatments and surgeries, to copious amounts of steroids – my body won a battle that no one expected. And I’m loving it the best I can. I know I don’t absolutely love the body I’m in and if I could wish for a better body tomorrow, I probably would. But I’m content with my body now, because I know my journey has been hard, and still have a ways to go. 

Alicia’s Idea Of Self Love

Self-love is being comfortable with not just your skin but yourself and giving yourself the love and care it deserves. Body acceptance is truly being happy with your outward appearance. And not worrying what anyone else has to really say about your body. In my journey to total self love, I’ve learned there’s always room for more progress and more self-love. I’ve grown a lot in my journey though and because of that I am truly happy.

Alicia’s Boudoir Photography Experience

I didn’t foresee these Columbia, South Carolina boudoir pictures being part of the plan for self love. But when I saw Jessica Hunt opened up a studio I knew I had to get my own boudoir photography. I did it because I know that so many people struggle with body dysmorphia, lack confidence in their body, or need more self-love. We all need a little encouragement.

It also helped wanting to take these photos because Jessica is the most genuine human. I’ve wanted to do an intimate shoot for a while but I  struggled with finding a boudoir photographer I would be comfortable with. I wanted pictures that made me feel and look beautiful and Jessica did that better than I had hoped for.

As I prepared for my Columbia, SC boudoir photography, I was a little worried about my session before it started. I was worried that I wouldn’t like the pictures or wouldn’t be comfortable in that environment. During the session, I felt great. I felt confident and beautiful. After my session I was so eager to see my pictures and they turned out so good!! I loved my session. I feel better about my body, and being more confident in my skin after this session!

Jessica is in her natural element when she’s behind her camera. I loved getting my hair and makeup done. I loved getting creative and having outfit options available. If anyone ever wants a reason to get their own Columbia, South Carolina boudoir photography experience I’d say just D O I T. It doesn’t have to be for someone else to enjoy.
