Kure Beach LGBTQ+ Engagement Photos

Today I’d like to share with you all some gorgeous and intimate Kure Beach LGBTQ+ engagement photos of Haeley and Jessi. This location is incredibly important to these two love birds as it became a location to relax and enjoy their time together while Haeley was attending UNCW and Jessi was living in Albemarle.

Quickly after they started dating and visiting Carolina Beach, they found the Rocks at Kure Beach which is where they would go to watch the sunrise and sunsets as well as watch for dolphins! The Rocks at Kure Beach as Haeley puts it was “our spot” and where Haeley proposed to Jessi in October 2020. I’m pleased to walk you through these images and their love story today!

Planning For Their LGBTQ+ Engagement Photos At Kure Beach

When Haeley reached out to Jessica Hunt Photography for her LGBTQ+ engagement photos, it was made very clear that her and Jessi are very laid back and chill. Some people find themselves to be the awkward humans in front of a camera, so it was important for this session that it be relaxed and fun! They wanted it to be more fun and lighthearted rather than passionate, intense, or sensual. Clearly, choosing a location for their engagement photos was a no brainer, as Kure Beach was the spot of all spots for this couple!

How Jessi And Haeley Met

“It all started with a swipe right!” After a few weeks of texting, Haeley and Jessi decided to move the party to FaceTime. After they got cozy with each other, they decided it was time to meet in person. Haeley was living in Wilmington and Jessi was living in Albemarle so they planned for a short weekend of adventures and realized a few weeks before the date that they had chosen Valentine’s Day weekend of 2015… no pressure!

“It all started with a swipe right!”

As soon as they met in person, they both knew right away that their feelings on FaceTime were the same as when they were in person. Jessi went back home after that weekend then ventured back to the beach during Haeley’s Spring Break and on March 10, 2015, she asked Haeley officially to be “a thing”! The next year and a half were spent on FaceTime and weekend trips at least monthly until they moved in together in their first apartment in Charlotte in Aug 2016. This love story eventually led to these stunning Kure Beach LGBTQ+ engagement photos!

The First LGBTQ+ Proposal Story

Haeley eventually started to joke about rings and proposals. Meanwhile, Jessi had a plan up her sleeve! Jessi and Haeley LOVE Christmas and pretty much everything that has to do with all the Christmas feels so they started to plan a cabin getaway to Gatlinburg, Tennessee to have an intimate Christmas getaway and eventually invite their friends for the end of the trip to do a secret Santa.

Jessi had planned for their friend, Jesse, to pull Haeley’s name for the secret Santa months before the proposal. Everyone pulled their secret Santa name at the cabin and it was time for Jesse to give Haeley her gift! Haeley had to wait in the bedroom so that Jessi, Jesse, and their friends could set up her gift. They created a beautiful display on the Christmas tree on the balcony of the cabin with polaroid photos of their trip and ornaments.

It was time for Haeley to come see her gift as Jesse led her to the balcony and told her the gift was on the tree. She turned to the tree and saw the most beautiful ornament that said “First Christmas Engaged – Haeley & Jessi 2019”. Haeley started sobbing and then turned around to Jessi on one knee. They spent the rest of that trip soaking up all the love of being newly engaged with their friends! It wasn’t until they got back to the cabin that evening that they realized Jesse didn’t give Haeley her gift. It was matching couple shirts that said “Feyonce” and “Bae-Z”!

The Second LGBTQ+ Proposal Story

In October of 2020, Jessi and Haeley had already planned a small beach vacation to get away for a little bit. Haeley knew she wanted Jessi to have the same experience as the first proposal. A few months before the trip, Haeley finally decided on THE perfect ring and ordered it… from the Ukraine! The ring ended up arriving to Haeley three days before they left for their Kure Beach trip. When they arrived to the beach, Haeley took Jessi to watch the sunrise at the Rocks and Kure Beach and proposed! Haeley wanted her proposal to be simple and easy. After the proposal, they went to a cute breakfast spot on the island and continued with their vacation as two “proposed to” humans!

Knowing Jessi and Haeley’s adorable proposal stories and love story, I could see how much Kure Beach meant to these two. It’s simply their “spot”. The entire day was so incredibly fun with them and capturing their LGBTQ+ engagement photos gave me so much joy. There were a ton of laughs throughout the day and after they changed outfits, they even sat down in the water together for some fun photos! I felt honored that they chose me as their LGBTQ+ friendly photographer for their engagement.
