Jenna and Christina are one of the sweetest and most genuinely in love couples I have ever had the pleasure of photographing. I am beyond honored to share their Columbia, SC same-sex wedding with you today.
The Story
Christina and Jenna met in pharmacy school and now enjoy working in the same field. They were married early in September on a pretty end-of-summer day at Shandon Presbyterian Church in Columbia, SC. Fun fact: Jenna & Christina are actually the first same-sex couple to be married in this church! The members of the church voted to be LGBTQ+ friendly two years ago, and Christina and Jenna’s union will go down in that holy building’s history! I was so honored, on top of the normal “omg-this-amazing-couple-choose-me-honored” feeling, to be a part of this church’s history.
The Big Day
Their wedding day was all about them, with each bride only having one attendant in the wedding party. Neither of the brides had seen each other’s gown before the big day, so we set up a First Look for them. Christina’s reaction to seeing Jenna in this STUNNING gown was priceless!
We finished up a few portraits and had their wedding ceremony inside the newly renovated Shandon Presbyterian Church. It was such a perfect and classic setting for these two brides to say their vows. After the ceremony, they headed to Glowout Studios for a fun reception surrounded by good food, friends, and family.
Jenna and Christina’s day was truly beautiful in every sense of the word, and I hope that you enjoy each of my favorite frames from this beautiful Columbia, SC same-sex wedding!
Just look at this stunning Columbia, SC same-sex wedding venue!
Though they chose them separately, their wedding details photographed beautifully together. And I was LIVING for DOUBLE the pretty gowns!
Two diamond rings are better than one, period.
Thought these brides got their hair and makeup done together in the morning, they had not yet shown each other their gown choices! We set up a First Look for them before the ceremony, and their reactions are EVERYTHING! Christina was truly shocked to see her more causal counterpart in a gorgeous gown for the first time in their relationship!
And now you can just scroll through all the pretty and happiness because I seriously COULD NOT decide which of their portraits were my favorites in this knockout Columbia, SC same-sex wedding session!
Okay, this next one might actually be my choice for favorite…
Stunning Columbia, SC Same-Sex Wedding Ceremony
Finally married!!!
We then headed to Glowout Salon for their reception, compete with great music, laughter, and flowing champagne.
Shout to my sweet friends at Silver Spoon Bake Shop for this stunningly simple number! Erin and her team NEVER disappoint!
Just LOOK at how happy and in love they are!!! LOOK!! Laughs and happiness like this make my heart soar!
The Mrs. and Mrs. over their photo booth area was one of my favorite little details from their reception. Glowout Salon truly went ALL out for this deserving couple, and we ended the night with a few kisses under a shower of sparklers.
I wanted to leave you with this…
A quote from Jenna about her hopes for their future lives together — reading it for the first time moved my heart, and I hope it stirs something in yours too.
“My hope is that we always look at each other with the same twinkling eyes that we have from the beginning. I hope we always put the other first, and are not too proud to say ‘I’m sorry.’ I hope that we support each other in every way and encourage each other to chase our dreams.”
I hope you enjoyed these beautiful images as much as I do, and you better be sure to leave these two brides a sweet comment below if you loved their Columbia, SC same-sex wedding photos!
To Jenna and Christina,
You two are truly special. Your love, your relationship, and the little looks you two share have reminded me of WHY I do what I do. A love story like yours is meant to be told, and I am so honored that you chose me to tell a small piece of it. Never stop loving each other as much as you did on this day. I cannot wait to watch you two grow together. I hope to find a love like yours one day, ladies, I truly do. Thank you for trusting me with your memories; your day is one I won’t ever forget!
