Engagement sessions are one of my favorite things to photograph, and Will and Erica’s South Carolina engagement portrait session was no different! We decided to be a little adventurous for their session and photograph their portraits at a special place on the river they love to visit together. Erica assured me that the location was not too hard to get to, and I happily agreed to do something a bit more out of the box for them. I love a good adventure, y’all!
Little did any of us know, the river’s height had risen due to rain. The small creek we needed to cross that should have only had six inches of water had turned into a stream almost two feet deep!! Thankfully, Erica and Will did not mind, and I’m not really the one to give up on a plan *that* easily. It’s just water, right? (Says the girl who was carrying quite a bit of expensive camera equipment at the time… Ha!)
Well, we carefully waded across. And boy, was it worth it!!!! I’ve never photographed in this little inlet before, but sheesh! Perfect light, a beautiful couple, AND a super cute pebble beach!??! What more could I ask for, amiright?
Thankfully the little risky moments in the stream were 100% worth it, and we wrapped up their South Carolina engagement session in the very boat Will proposed to Erica in on Lake Murray. The sunset was stunning that evening, and I loved being able to capture a few portraits of the couple together in the very spot Erica said ‘Yes!’
All-in-all, Will and Erica’s engagement session was quite literally perfect, adventure through the stream included, and I’m overjoyed to be sharing their portraits with you today. Leave the happy couple some love below after you’ve seen all the goodness, and be sure to check back in October after their big day for Erica’s bridal portraits and the full wedding!

We started off the session with a few simple poses, and they were so natural in front of the camera!
I loved being able to watch Will and Erica laugh and smile with each other; it was so evident that they truly are best friends and soul mates.
And then we took a little walk through foliage and over a fallen log to photograph them on the rocks together…
This next one might just be one of my favorites, but honestly, Erica and Will did such a great job being natural and in-love in front of the camera, settling on one favorite is HARD!
Y’all know I love a good slow dance…
Then we were off to Lake Murray after a quick outfit change…
We grabbed a few romantic shots on the dock. Then we headed out on the lake to take advantage of the stunning sunset that evening.
Some of these more casual shots of them together on the boat are my favorites too. Their affection and love for each other is just so easy to see in these images, and I LOVE it!
And dark silhouettes are not usually my style, but I had to utilize this sunset, y’all!! Lake Murray sunsets never disappoint, and this one was no different.
Congratulations to Will and Erica on their engagement! And I hope you loved scrolling through a few of their South Carolina engagement portraits. Leave them some love below and stay tuned for more gorgeousness from this couple’s wedding later this year!
